Šumavský kuba

Another variant of the old Czech cube, this time the recipe is originally from Šumava and is prepared from groats, mushrooms, lard, butter, garlic, cumin, marjoram, pepper and salt.

Procedure:
1. Rinse the groats with warm water, put them in a pot, cover with water, add salt, a little cumin and boil them until tender, then drain them and leave them to drain
2. Then clean the fresh mushrooms and cut them into slices and rub the peeled garlic cloves with salt
3. Then saute the mushroom slices in a little lard and mix them into the drained grits together with the rubbed garlic, salt, most of the lard, pepper and marjoram
4. Spread the finished mixture in a baking dish greased with lard, put the baking dish in a preheated oven and bake until golden brown, before the end of baking, put slices of butter on the surface and let them melt
5. Divide the finished cube into individual portions and serve with, for example, pickles.
