Canned pineapple. No one ever claimed it was a gourmet ingredient. But it is very useful in the kitchen. Whole fresh pineapple can be tricky to cook and take time, skill (and muscle) to prepare. (I wonder if the first person will brave the spinach and thicken the skin of this delicate fruit.)
Canned pineapple comes in several varieties: crushed, chunks, and rings. I’ve always bought canned pineapple with juice; it doesn’t need sugar-heavy syrup!
I like canned pineapple for convenience and consistency. While I love fresh pineapple, there have been many times when I’ve cut into fresh fruit only to find it browned into a ring. It’s not quite a settler.
So buy some pineapple jars in all their different designs and enjoy these easy and delicious recipes.
