On New Year’s Day, some legumes should be served. How about cooking shoulet, i.e. soaked and then baked groats together with peas and in this case some smoked bacon and bacon cubes.
Ingredients:
200 g
of peas
200 g
of grits
250 g
smoked
80 g
of bacon
3 tbsp
lard
3-4 pcs
garlic cloves
1 pk
larger onion
Mayonnaise
water
pepper
salt
Procedure:
Cook the peas, which have been washed and soaked the day before, until tender, then in another pot cook the groats, which are also better left to soak, but you only need 60 minutes (peas cook for about 1 hour, groats are soft after about 30 minutes).
Smoke the diced smoked meat and bacon and fry them on the seat together with finely chopped onion.
Stir the legumes together, salt and pepper them, add marjoram, crushed or pressed garlic and onion fried in lard together with the cubes of smoked meat and bacon.
Stir the mixture well and place it in a baking dish thoroughly greased with lard.
In an oven heated to 180-190 °C, bake the dish for about 30 to 45 minutes.
