Recipe to make kolaczki using puff pastry sheets
Hey there! Today, I’ll be sharing a recipe for kolaczki – a traditional Polish pastry. These little bites are made using puff pastry sheets, and they’re absolutely delicious. I’ll walk you through the ingredients and steps necessary to make these treats, as well as some tips to help you along the way.
First things first – you’ll need some puff pastry sheets. You can find these in the freezer section of most grocery stores. Once you have your puff pastry, defrost it according to the package instructions. This usually involves letting it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to an hour.
While your puff pastry is defrosting, you can prepare the filling. For this recipe, I like to use a combination of fruit preserves and cream cheese. You can really use any combination of flavors that you like, though. Some other popular options include chocolate and raspberry, or apricot and almond. Simply mix together your chosen ingredients until well combined.
Once your puff pastry is defrosted and your filling is prepared, it’s time to start assembling the kolaczki. Cut the puff pastry into small rectangles – you should be able to get about 12-15 kolaczki from one sheet of puff pastry. Place a small dollop of filling in the center of each rectangle, then fold up the edges and press to seal. Use a fork to press down the seams, if desired.
Bake the kolaczki at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
This recipe is pretty simple, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First, make sure that your puff pastry is defrosted completely before you start working with it. If it’s even a little bit frozen, it will be difficult to work with and won’t puff up properly when baked. Second, be careful not to overfill the kolaczki. A little bit of filling goes a long way, and too much will cause the pastry to burst open during baking
