Ingredients: 3/4 cups (180ml) buttermilk, 1/4 cup (60ml) red food coloring, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 1/2 cups (188g) cake flour, 1 cup (200g) sugar, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon cocoa powder, 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, 2 eggs
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees
2. C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
3. In a small bowl, whisk together buttermilk, food coloring, and vanilla.
4. In a large bowl, whisk together cake flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and cocoa powder.
5. Add butter to the large bowl and use an electric mixer to beat on low speed until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
6. Add eggs to the butter mixture and beat on medium speed until combined.
7. Add the buttermilk mixture to the eggs and beat on low speed until combined.
8. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
