Recipe for apple crisp with Sheri
Last Updated on
This recipe for apple crisp is super easy and only requires a few ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry. The best part about this recipe is that it can be easily adapted to whatever apples you have on hand. I like to use a mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples because they provide a nice balance of sweetness and tartness. If you only have one type of apple, that’s totally fine too! Just use what you have.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, diced
4-5 cups apples, peeled and sliced
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and butter. Use a pastry blender or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside 1/2 cup of the mixture for topping.
In another bowl, combine apples, white sugar, cornstarch, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Toss to coat the apples.
Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with the reserved crumb mixture.
Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling
