Wheat has been a mystery to me for a long time, but I’ve found my way to it. Even a more convenient version than balls of hulled millet, the birth of our daughter brought fine flakes into our kitchen. In organic quality. Just fill with water, churn and fill again…and that would be half the recipe divulged 🙂
I’m always “yawning” at our daughter’s morning cereal. The little one loves them and has been eating them herself since she learned to eat them at a year old. Always with two spoons, sometimes with a fork. Linda eats porridge whenever there are “balls” in it. She doesn’t care if it’s currants, cherries, but she likes blueberries best. She can eat them frozen out of the bag , she has been stuffing herself with them all summer. You could say she is mostly a fruitarian, because she loves fruit. Now it’s pomegranate season. Hurmikaki is just going to get wiped out. And strawberries. Strawberries anytime. Freeze-dried ones. He can indulge all year long. We buy the weighted ones because we try to save on packaging. If they’re left scattered around the stroller or carseat, I always pick them up and put them in the warm mash. They could dye the red carpets with them. It’s really hard to wash 🙁
We rotate the cereal every morning, oatmeal, hemp, wheat, rice, quinoa mix, etc. And lots of fruit. When we have an outing coming up, I’ll add some coconut sugar for energy. It contains magnesium and has a low glycemic index.
1.
I wash the wheat and boil it with water for about5minutes. I mix it with frozen strawberries. These cool down the hot porridge and the food can be served immediately.
2.
When the porridge is diluted by blending, I add more hemp seeds, currants or other fruits to it on the plate.
3.
For bigger kids, you can also add nuts. I poured the rest of the dried strawberries from the bag..:). I believe the kids will like this treat. And not only them 🙂
