Beat egg yolks with sugar and add warm water a tablespoon at a time. Stir in the custard and baking powder and whisk until combined, finally fold in the egg white whites. Spread the batter on a greased and floured baking sheet. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C. Once cooled, cut through (you will get 2 sheets). Brush the cooled sponge cake, i.e. the 1st slice, with strawberry jam.

Make a thick pudding from milk and custard powder. Stir the cooled mixture into the softened butter.

Fruit syrup can be diluted slightly with water and rum can also be added.

Dip the biscuits in the syrup and place on top of the strawberry jam. Spread the cream on the biscuits (leave a little under the icing) and cover with the second slice, spread with the remaining filling and put in the fridge to set.

Cover the top with chocolate, decorate as you like.
