Basic Tomato Sauce

Tomato sauce, a semi-finished product suitable as a base for the preparation of pizza, sauces and other Italian dishes.

Ingredients:

400 g of chopped tomatoes 1 pc small onion 1 pc clove of garlic 2 pcs of bay leaves 2 tbsp olive oil 2 tbsp tomato puree 2 tbsp chopped parsley 1 tsp dried oregano 1 tsp sugar ground black pepper salt

Procedure:

1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and saute finely chopped onions for 2-3 minutes until they turn brown
2. Add the chopped garlic and sauté for another minute
3. Finally, stir in the chopped tomatoes, oregano parsley, bay leaves, tomato paste and sugar, season to taste with salt and ground pepper
4. Bring the sauce to the boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer without a lid for 15-20 minutes until half the liquid has evaporated
5. Taste and add seasoning if necessary, add salt or sugar and remove the bay leaves before using again.

Recommendation:

If longer storage is required, fill well-washed jars with hot sauce, close lids and turn upside down for at least 15 minutes.
