Step 5
Butter a cake pan, optionally place a baking paper (it makes it easier to unmold), and pour the mixture. Place in the oven and cook for 45-50 minutes, until the skewer comes out completely clean.
Tricks
The good thing about sponge cakes is that they are very easy to prepare and can be made with the little ones in the house so that they have a fun time.
The combination is undoubtedly a winner and this orange and chocolate sponge cake with the finishing touch of olive oil will please everyone but you could certainly delete the chocolate chips and you could change the orange for lemon, for example.
The most important thing is not to open the oven once the cake is in it and not to beat the mixture of ingredients in excess, it is key that for the cakes we only stir enough until all the ingredients are well integrated, and that’s it.
If we see that the cake gets too toasted on top, we can cover it with some aluminum foil, always having spent more than 30 minutes since the cooking started.
