Obkázanica

An old recipe originally from Wallachia, reminiscent of yam and is really delicious and tasty. It is a mixture of minced meat browned in lard together with onions and bacon, baked in the oven, mixed with boiled groats and buckwheat.

Procedure:
1. Boil the groats and buckwheat separately in lightly salted water, drain the water, rinse, drain and set aside
2. In a roasting pan, fry the chopped onion and bacon cubes in lard along with the minced meat
3. Add the buckwheat and groats, mix, season with garlic, marjoram, salt and pepper
4. In a baking dish, arrange the mixture, pour in the broth and bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C, when a crust starts to form on the surface, the obkázanica is ready
5. Serve with sauerkraut and bread, or with buttered potatoes.
