Excellent recipe my mother gave me. The recipe was still made by her mother. The strudels are just amazing and are perfect for any occasion. As they say, you can never go wrong with a strudel. It is suitable for every day. I always bake the strudels as a snack for a visitor but we also eat them as a treat for breakfast.
1.
Heat the milk so it is lukewarm. Prepare the sourdough starter. Let stand for 5 minutes. or use Dr.Oetker dried yeast and mix together.
2.
Knead the dough and let it rest for 20-40minutes.
3.
When the dough has risen, divide it into 4 equal loaves.
4.
Fill each loaf on a baking sheet with any filling and roll up.
5.
Set oven temperature to 180°C (conventional oven) 160°C (hot air oven).
6.
Bake for approximately 40 minutes.
7.
When the strudels are done, remove them from the oven and brush them with oil.
8.
Then cover them with a damp cloth and let them cool.
9.
Good taste!
