Fried Elderflowers

Black elderflowers coated in batter, fried until golden brown.

Ingredients:

elderflowers (whole bunches with stem) 1/4 l milk 2 pcs eggs smooth flour as needed oil salt

Procedure:

Rinse whole bunches of elderflower inflorescences under cold running water, letting them drain thoroughly.

From milk, eggs, plain flour and a pinch of salt prepare a batter, it should be as thick as for pancakes, then dip the flowers in the batter and immediately put them in a well heated oil, fry until golden brown.

Fry the flowers on a paper towel to drain, then immediately serve, for example, with mashed potatoes.

Recommendation:

You can also try a sweet version, when you add sugar or honey to the batter and sprinkle the fried flowers with ground cinnamon when serving.

Note:

Milk can also be substituted for beer.
