English mince pie
Last Updated on
English mince pie, or Shepherd’s pie, is a great country dish straight from the Emmerdale countryside. Put on your best tweed jacket and tuck in. 1 tbsp fresh thyme 1 tbsp Worchestershire sauce 1 tbsp wheat flour salt and pepper butter
For the dish
8 dl mashed potatoes 1 egg
Tip: if you mash the mashed potatoes, you can make the dish very tasty.
Make a minced meat stew:
Stir an egg into the mashed potatoes.
Smother the onion, put butter in a shallow pan and sauté the onion until sweet, about 10 minutes. Then add the mince to the pan and fry quickly until browned.
Add the crushed tomatoes, mixed peas to the pan and bring to the boil. Season with bay leaves, thyme and worchestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Finally, season with wheat flour.
Lubricate the baking dish and place the flour mixture in an even layer on the bottom. Spread the mashed potatoes over the surface and bake the mince mixture in a 200C oven for 20-30 minutes until the potatoes are browned.
The English minced meat roast should be allowed to rest in the oven for a while before serving, as it is very hot!
