Easter stuffing from sourdough rye bread

Traditional Old Bohemian Easter stuffing slightly lightened thanks to some of the ingredients used. Recipe by Věra Burešová, chief nutritionist at NATURHOUSE.

Ingredients:

250 g ham 95% meat 160 g sourdough rye bread 100 g coarsely grated carrots 60 g baby spinach 20 g butter 10 g of basil 1 bunch of spring onions 1 cup white yogurt up to 3% fat 1/2 bag baking powder 1/4 tsp mace 4 pcs eggs (yolks and whites separately) 2-3 pcs garlic cloves 200 ml of semi-skimmed milk Other: baking paper 25 x 35 cm baking pan

Procedure:

  • Cut the dough into cubes and cover with milk
  • .In an adjacent bowl, combine the ham, carrots, chopped spring onion, roughly chopped spinach, basil, mace, garlic with the white yogurt and egg yolks
  • Add the soaked bread to the mixture and mix
  • Finally, lightly stir in the egg white snow and baking powder
  • Transfer the prepared stuffing into a 25 x 35 cm baking dish lined with baking paper and place the butter flakes on top of the stuffing
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 40 minutes.
